US Universities Warn International Students on Return Date
Several major universities in the United States have advised international students to return to the
country before September 15, 2026, as institutions prepare for changes in the federal immigration
environment. The guidance is especially relevant to students who are currently abroad and plan to
resume classes in the fall term.
Universities generally issue such warnings to reduce the risk of travel disruption when new
immigration procedures, entry requirements or policy changes are approaching. Students should not
assume that advice from one institution automatically applies to every visa category or campus.
Pakistani students in the United States should check their university’s international-student office,
maintain valid visa and I-20 or DS-2019 documentation where applicable, and monitor official US
government travel guidance. Anyone with a complicated immigration history should seek qualified
advice rather than relying on social-media summaries.
