KP to Start Inter-Tech Program in 20 Govt Schools
Khyber Pakhtunkhwa has announced the launch of an Inter-Tech program in selected government
higher secondary schools as part of a new technical-education initiative. The first phase will cover 20
schools in 10 districts, split equally between boys’ and girls’ institutions.
The Elementary and Secondary Education Department plans to engage qualified Technical Education
Providers through an open competitive outsourcing process. The objective is to introduce practical
technical learning within the regular public-school environment rather than limiting such training to
separate vocational institutions.
If implemented effectively, the model could give students earlier exposure to employable skills while
they complete their higher secondary education. Key issues to watch will include the trades offered,
quality of instructors, assessment standards and whether successful pilots are expanded to more
